Built by Jackson and Sharp, Coach No. 280 was placed in use by the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad in 1881. Its service ended with the Denver & Rio Grande Western on the Durango to Silverton route in 1951. It is one of only two surviving Jackson and Sharp passenger coaches in Colorado that essentially retain their original configuration.
