Exterior photograph of the Lowry Air Force Base World War II hanger located in Denver, Colorado. The Lowry Field Brick Barracks represents America's militarization program in response to increasing international military threats in Europe and the Pacific in the late 1930s and early 1940s. At the time of its construction in 1940, the building was one of the nation's largest military barracks. It exhibits the Spanish Revival style as interpreted by military architects and applied to a massive brick institutional housing facility late in the style's period of popularity.
