Lieutenant - Governor of Colorado
World War II pilot; staff writer and night city editor, Denver Post, 1950-1964; first black senator in the Colorado Legislature, 1956-1974; director of Denver Urban Coalition, 1969-1974; represented the United States Department of State as guest lecturer on communications for five European and fourteen African nations in 1962; assistant director of the Denver Housing Authority, 1965; one of the first King Fellows in Journalism at University of Colorado, 1959; recipient of many local and national awards in journalism and human relations. Inaugurated Lieutenant-Governor of Colorado January 13, 1975. Inducted 1973.
