View toward the north overlooking barren landscape and Central City, Colorado. Snow is visible on the hillside. St. Aloysius is to the far-right of the image, and St. Mary's Catholic Church is visible at the right-to-center part of the image. Gregory's Gulch is directly below the slope. In the foreground is the Galena mine. Four men, two dressed in suits and hats and two dressed in miners clothes stand to the right of the mine on a heap of mine tailings. Debris litters the area in the foreground in front of the mine. Some of the other mines in the image include the Mammoth, the East Boston, and the O.K.
