Title	Central City, Colo.
Summary	An early view of Central City, Colorado, probably taken in the early 1870s. In the foreground is a rocky hillside with a view that looks down the hill toward the town; shows many wood-framed buildings, most of which did not survive the fire of 1874. The Teller House, which is in the distance, survived the blaze along with a few other stone buildings. The treeless hills, along with several mines surround the city.

Notes	Hand-written on paper taped to back of photoprint: "Central City Colo. A view toward N. W. Apparently shows region at lower (southly) end of Main St. and its junction with lower end of Nevada Gulch. The buildings on hillside were in what was locally called Dog Town. Photographer not known. View believed made early 1870's. was given by Henry H. Lake to undersigned over 20 years ago- Prescott Ariz. 8 Oct 1966 DC Kemp."; Photoprint's edges are worn, image dirty.
