. The
building
is
a
square
,
single
detached
structure
with
three
stories
and a
flat
roof
. The
walls
are
brick
with a
common
bond
type
of
brickwork
on the
facade
. There are
seven
bays
on the
first
floor
, and
five
each
on the
second
and
third
floors
. A
balcony
extends
out
from the
second
floor
and
is
supported
by
pilasters
with
ornate
wood
design
atop
. There
is
a
railing
with
4
x
4
support
posts
and
thirteen
carved
dowels
in
between
each
. The
second
and
third
floor
window
openings
have
segmental
arches
which
are
marked
by a
light
colored
keystone
in the
middle
of
each
.
Continuous
brickwork
defines
the
arch
and
connects
subsequent
arches
along
the
facade
of the
building
. A
door
marks
the
access
to the
balcony
on the
second
floor
. In
large
letters
above
the
third
floor
windows
, "The
Gilpin
Hotel
",
is
visible
. The
first
floor
is
defined
by
similar
opening
shapes
, but has
only
four
windows
, and
three
doors
.
Over
the
main
door
, "The
Gilpin
Hotel
,
J
.
Klein
,
Prop.
",
is
visible
.
All
windows
are
double
hung
with a
single
pane
.
Each
slipsill
is
light
in
color
,
which
offsets
it
from the
dark
surrounding
brick
. The
visible
doors
are
double
leaf
,
four
panel
doors
.
Eleven
adults
and
seven
children
are in
front
of the
hotel
;
Main
St
.
is
in the
near
foreground
.
