Cook
&
Kimball
Mill
,
Turner
Hall
was the
location
of
many
social
events
in the
community
prior
to the
opening
of the
Teller
House
in
1872
. The
Winnebago
Mine
and
Stamp
Mill
stands
at the
top
of the
hill
in the
distance.

Central
City
after
the
fire
of
1873
,
which
was
reportedly
caused
by an
overheated
furnace
in the
old
Episcopal
Church
. The
Gilpin
County
public
high
school
stands
on
High
Street
in the
right
background
above
the
Congregational
Church
that
served
as the
elementary
school
until
the
Clark
Elementary
School
was
built
in
1901
. The
Baptist
church
and the
National
Hotel
stand
in the
right
midground
. The
chimney
and
furnace
of the
church
remain
standing
in the
Date
