Summary	cubic feet of reinforced concrete were reportedly used to build the 624-foot dam, which was about 120 feet thick at the base and about 16 feet at the top. The dam was opened 1910. A ridge of mountains is in the distance.; Tall pine trees jut into the foreground in this view looking across Barker Dam near Nederland in Boulder County, Colorado. Construction of the dam began in 1909 by the Central Colorado Power Company (later the Public Service Company of Colorado) to provide a new hyrdoelectric power source for the area. Building materials were brought from Boulder via the Denver, Boulder and Western Railway and were stored in large warehouses at the construction site. More than 133,000
