Summary	A Native American (Apache) woman sits and poses with a baby in a cradleboard. The mother carries the cradleboard by a leather strap over her forehead. She wears a dress with wide sleeves and a gathered waist, and leather moccasins.

The child is securely lashed in the wicker-work basket or box, and slung to the back of the mother, is often "toted" all day."; Stamp on verso shows eagle logo and reads: "War Department, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army.
