Montrose parades celebrating the opening of the Gunnison tunnel

Summary
A large number of people line the parade route to celebrate the opening of the Gunnison Tunnel in Montrose, Colorado. Decorated horse- drawn carriages, marching bands, and a long line of automobiles parade through a set of two arches that were constructed for the occasion. Printing on the arches reads: "Welcome, Gunnison Tunnel Opening 1909." Signs along the street read: "Montrose Hardware Company" "M. Harris Dry Goods Store" "J. F. Wilson Gents Furnishings" "The Busy Corner Pharmacy" and, "Strehlke Bros."

Formerly F35340.; Title hand-written on back of photoprint; photographer's stamp on verso; a sign attached to one of the three legs of the two arch openings reads: "Potatoes Between Tree Rows Pay all Expenses and a Profit on Growing an Orchard. The Crop Value of Montrose County..." On the Middle Leg is: "Ouray County Mineral Output 140,000,000.00 25.000 Acres. Agricultural land yielding 250,000.00 net per annum. 100,000 Acres grazing land.
