The engineers' and contractors' dormitory at the East Portal of the Moffat Tunnel in Colorado is a one-story gable-roofed building with a small porch with stairs and is surrounded by pines and a fence; the roof is covered in snow, and long icicles hang from the eaves. A pole and wires are nearby. Wind-blown snow creates a haze over the area; another wood building is behind the dormitory, and the East Portal to the Moffat Tunnel, with its buttresses reading "1923" and "1927" is visible through the haze. Pine- and snow-covered mountains are behind.
