Summary	Two buildings face each other on a main street corner in Empire, Clear Creek County, Colorado; one has a gable roof and a stepped false front, a stairway against the side of the building, and a Coca-Cola sign that reads, "Groceries;" the one-story clapboard building across the street has painted on its facade: "Cards, Quality Mdse. Economy Prices, View Master, Package Drugs Chinaware, Moccasins;" a sign on the top reads, "35 mm Slides." The intersecting street, the road to Union Pass, recedes into the valley, mountains are on either side.
