Historical information reads: "April 18th, 1882. Giving four distinct views. An Indian with a pipe in his hand in the foreground watching the artist, some officers and their families with Indians standing and squatting around them. Behind them the camp, and in the distance the hills covered with snow. A ration is the amount of food furnished each individual every twenty four hours, and is proportioned as follows, for every one hundred rations: 300 lbs of Fresh Beef, gross, or 3 lbs Beans. 150 lbs of Fresh Beef net, 4 lbs Coffee, 8 lbs Sugar. 10 lbs Pork or Bacon, 1 lb Soap, 1 lb Salt. 50 lbs Flour, or 1/2 lb Tobacco, or 50 lbs Shelled Corn, or in lieu of either. 55 lbs hard bread."; R7100316622
