View in Manitou Springs, Colorado, looking north, probably from the Barker House. In the foreground is the Manitou Springs Pavilion, a cross gabled frame structure with a cupola, a rusticated knee-high stone foundation and fancy woodwork in the gable apexes in the form of sunbursts. The Cheyenne Spring, also in the foreground, has been enclosed in a circular stone building with a conical roof, and Fountain Creek has been contained by stone walls. In the center is the Cliff House Hotel; its north wing is a three story frame structure with a hipped gable roof, a widow's walk, canvas awnings on the windows and a wrap around open air porch. A square central tower with hipped roof extends above the main roof line; a sign on it at the level of the main roof soffit reads: 'Cliff House'. The south wing is a two story gable roofed structure with two dormers, an open air porch and balcony, and a four story faceted tower with a lookout on top at the south end. In the left is the Jerome Wheeler residence, and behind it is the Johnny Nolon residence. The Ruxton and Fountain creek bridges are in the foreground; electric wires cross the image; scrub and rock covered hills fill the background.
