Summary	Exterior view of the Alpine Hose Company No. 2 Fire House, located on Fifth (5th) Street near Rose Street in Georgetown, Colorado. The front of the building was built by the company in 1874, with storage for the hose carts on the first floor and a meeting room upstairs. In 1880 William Hamill bought the company and built a bell tower. The building has a false front, a sign "Alpine Hose Hose No. 2" a large entrance door for the equipment, a horizontal metal pipe chimney, bell tower, and Victorian woodwork. Scene includes stone walls, a rock-strewn grassy lot, 1930s public school, and Republican Mountain.

Notes	Formerly MO111.; Penciled on back of photoprint: "Fire House. These important structures in mining camps had the hose cart on the ground floor and above was a meeting hall for the members. Volunteer Fire Companies were important adjuncts in the social life of the town. Georgetown had seven in its heyday. The members held regular meetings, gave dances and other social affairs for their families, and engaged in hearty and vigorous competition. The Georgetown Public Library today proudly displays many of the trophies won by her fire companies. The tower was useful not only in housing a bell but in providing heights from which the hoses were hung to dry (inside the tower) after being used." Hand-written in ink: "Alpine Hose Co.
