He has a watch chain looped from his pocket to his waist. Another woman in a dark pants suit holds a ticket stub to her nose. Hand lettered signs above read: "$2 Ticket Pays - Place."

Notes	Rubber stamp on verso of typed label reads: Sep 1, 1939 F. H. F.; Title and date hand-written on back of photoprint.; Typed label with photoprint reads: Douglas Smythe of Oklahoma City and Anne White of St. Louis prepare to place a bet at the pari-mutual betting booth at the Trinidad rodeo, during the Confederate vets reunion. Anne is a "Maid of Honor" and wears her official ribbons. Doug, who has been staying in Trinidad this summer, was "supplied" to Anne as an escort by the escort service conducted by the local 20-30 Club. Most of the young men assigned as escorts did not draw such attractive girls. Just before this picture was snapped, a man collected $28 on a $2 bet on one of the races.; R7100018282
