View of conventioneers in Trinidad, Colorado. A seated, bespectacled elderly man wearing a Homburg hat gestures with one hand and holds a cane with the other. A seated Boy Scout pays close attention. A steamer type suitcase sits behind a metal cot against a brick wall in the background.

Notes
Stamp on verso of typed label: Sep 1, 1939 F. H. F.; Title and date hand-written on back of photoprint.; Typed label with photoprint: "Twice Told Tale" or "Reminiscences of one of the boys in gray" might be the title of this shot. Confederate Veteran Joseph Hardin, Sr. 95, of Henryetta, Oklahoma, regales his Boy Scout aide with tales of the Civil War. The scout is Dana Orth, 16. This was taken at "Camp Harris" the name given the bivouac establishhed in the Trinidad High School to house and feed most of the veterans and their parties. The old vets slept on army cots placed in rows in the high school gymansium. There were no deaths during the reunion; only casualties were due to some of the old boys tippling too freely, and a few bad hangovers were the worst from that cause.; R7100018119
