Exterior view of the Grand Imperial Hotel, in Silverton, Colorado, looking northwest; shows the storefronts with inset doors, pilasters with acanthus capitals, and the stepped semicircular arches over the second floor sash windows. On the left at the soffit separating the first and second floor, a carved stone bracket has cartouches that enclose florets. The mansard roof and dormers with their jigsaw-worked bases and arched sash windows with ornamented casings are in the top of the image, and the brackets under the eaves are also visible. Lettering in the plate glass of the storefronts reads: "Gift Shop" "Free Museum" and "Old Prospector Bar." Sheer curtains hang behind the window on the right. A vertical, painted sign projecting from the left side of the building has shaded letters that read: "Grand Imperial."
