Title	Four pistols
Summary	Four pistols descriptions follow images from right to left. The first pistol was made by H. Aston & Co. from Middletown, Connecticut; U.S. Arsenal. The percussion pistol (US model 1842, military cap lock pistol) is single shot made from walnut with brass trim, it has a curved handle, a smooth bore, a ramrod and a swivel piece; it is fifty-four caliber. Inscription reads: "US H. Aston & Co. Middtn, Conn 1851 US GW P 1851". This pistol was used in the Civil War by E. Brooks from Denver, Colorado of Company A of the 1st (First) Maine Artillery. The dimensions on this pistol are 42 x 26 cm. (17 x 10 in.); date range between 1861 and 1865. The second is a revolver made by the Colt Mfg. Co from Hartford, Connecticut (Model 1851 Navy revolver). It is a six shot and has a steel octagonal barrel, an engraved steel cylinder and percussion cap. The engraving on the cylinder depicts the Texas Navy in a battle in Mexico. Inscription reads: Address Sam'l Colt New York City Colts Patent No. 61635 Engaged May 1843 Colts patent US 61635 JM". The length is 34 cm (13 in.) and date range is between 1850 and 1873. The third is a Colt forty-four caliber pistol; it is single action with a percussion and a walnut grip. Curatorial note supplied by Colorado Historical Society: "Colt patent #2066. These guns played a prominent role in the Civil War. Thousands were purchased by the Federal Government. Early barrels were 7.5 inches; 8 inch late became standard. This type later superseded the Colt's Dragoon. Streamlined in appearance". The length is 35 cm. (14 in.), and the model date is 1860. The fourth model is a revolver made by Remington; it has a walnut grip and a metal barrel. Curatorial note supplied by Colorado Historical Society: "Remington New Model Army Revolver - serial number: 70349. Cap and ball, six-shot revolver. This gun was given to donor's grandfather, Capt. L. E. Campbell by Mr. Tritch. follow his trek from St. Joseph Mo. to Colorado in the 1860's." The barrel length is 19 cm. (7 1/2 in.); date range between 1860 and 1869.
