Shows a Native American (Ute) miniature cradleboard with a doll inside of it made by Chipeta. The cradleboard is decorated with multi-colored beads and thread, and buckskin fringe on the bottom. The doll has black cotton thread hair and painted facial expression.
"Remarks: Made by Chipeta and given to Mrs. Margaret Thompson Adams, wife of Gen. Chas. Adams. Cradle is made of buckskin covered board with doll attached at center. Upper portion of cradleboard (above doll's head) is beaded in a horseshoe shape, 3 rows of lazy stitch, gold and orange background with three inverted stepped triangles - one at top, two at sides - in light and dark blue, yellow, red and white.) Ends of horseshoe beadwork are alternating blue and white squares. Head cover is made of reeds woven with red cotton cloth, decorated with red and white print cotton cloth, with red, white and blue cloth underneath. There is also a bow of red and white print at top of head cover. Doll's hair is made of black cotton thread, facial features painted. Buckskin is fringed at bottom, and also near the top.
