View of Bastien's Steak House, 3501 East Colfax Avenue, in the City Park neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. The founding proprietor of the restaurant, William Bastien, Sr., designed this twelve-sided Moderne commercial building himself. Constructed in 1958, the two-story building has a dramatic folded plate roof outlined in neon, with a hemispherical skylight; a juxtaposition of exterior materials include painted concrete block, concrete, and metal, and expanses of plate glass windows. A neon sign on the roof reads: Bastien's." Neon-metal signs in front of the building read "Bastien's Restaurant" "Cocktails" and "Steaks." Another sign reads "Home of the Sugar Steak, Join Us for 2fers in the Bar."
