View of the front facade and side elevation of the McAllister House located at 423 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The two-story English style cottage adorned with simple Carpenter Gothic wood trim is purported to have been constructed of brick imported from Philadelphia. Steep, clipped gable roofs, a tiny tripartite dormer, hooded bays, and stone quoins distinguish this residence built in 1873 for Henry McAllister, Director of the Colorado Springs Company. The residence is a rare example of work by Philadelphia based architect, George Summers and is one of the oldest residences in the Pikes Peak region. In 1961 the National Society of Colonial Dames of America opened the house as the McAllister House Museum. The structure was placed on the National Register in 1973.
