Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN) Minutes of Board Meeting

              CAPITOL HILL UNITED NEIGHBORHOODS
Minutes of Board Meeting, May 2, 1974
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 P.M.  The first order
of business was election of officers for    1974-75.  Elected
were the following:  Michael Henry, President; Rhonda Knop,
First Vice-President; Cathy Donohue, Second Vice-President; David
Knauber, Third Vice-President; Velma Moore, Recording Secretary;
James Hill, Corresponding Secretary; Patty Jackson, Secretary.
Patty Jackson then gave the treasurerfs report which showed a
current bank balance of $403.81 (not including $50.00 from the
sale of buttons).  Since the special newsletter was distributed
CHUN has taken in $379.87 in membership dues and $49.37 in
donations.  The cost of printing the newsletter was $82.95.
CHUN expended ad $12.00 for a booth at the Capitol Hill Peoples1
Fair and $6.00 for a separate booth for the garden project run
by Bill Pace.  There had been no prior authorization for this
latter expenditure.
It was moved and seconded that no funds be spent on a separate
booth for the garden project of the Crime Committee.  After
discussion the motion was defeated 11 to 8.
It was moved, seconded and passed that the Board reaffirm and
recreate all existing committees and that present chair people
be reappointed if they agreed to serve.  New committees will be
created as needed.  The existing committees and their current
chair people are :  education, Mary Snyder; transportation,
Cathy Donohue, Carolyn Resnik;  land use/zoning, Jim James;
crime prevention, Bill Pace; home financing, Doug Knop and
Rhodda Knop.  Carolyn Resnik announced that she was resigning
as co-chair person of the transportation committee.  Mike Henry
will find a new chair person by the next Board meeting.
The PRT route along Grant Street was discussed.  It was feared
that the route will lead to development of heavy business in
the area around the route and the distruction of historically
interesting buildings and needed housing.  It was moved, seconded and unanimously passed that CHUN supports all underground
service through the inter-city area and that CHUN opposes the
proposed Grant Street route, either underground or above ground.
Additionally, that CHUN opposes any route East of Grant Street.
