MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF
CAPITOL HILL UNITED NEIGHBORHOODS
February 28, 1974
President L. Michael Henry called the meeting to order at 7:45
P.M. on February 28, 1974. Present were Don Bain, Dale Hart, Caroline
Resnick, L. Michael Henry, Cathy Krendl, Mary McAllister, Rhonda Knop,
Marshall Snyder, Jim James and Cathy Donahue. Excused were David
Fletcher and Mike Gilbert.
The minutes were approved as mailed.
The president, in absence of the treasurer, reported a current
balance of $318.76. In addition, the president obtained the board's
approval to mail the next CHUN Newsletter to 600 persons that he has
compiled from various lists.
The president announced that Field and Bobbie Benton have resigned
from the board. Jim James moved that the board instruct the president
to write to the Bentons expressing personal and community loss at their
resignation. The motion passed.
It was moved that the board donate $10 toward a book for the
Botanical Garden's library as a memorial to Helen Amter. The motion
was seconded and passed.
It was moved that a letter of condolence be sent to the husband
of Mrs. Jean Cranmer, a distinguished member of the Denver community.
The motion was seconded and passed.
The president asked for the board's thoughts on the annual meeting
to be held sometime during April. The board decided that the annual
meeting would be held during the first week of April and that David
Fletcher, Vice President in Charge of Programs, would prepare a program
on historical preservation.
The president appointed a nominating committee consisting of
Barbara Holme, Chairman, Don Bain, Mike Gilbert, Ethyl en Christiansen,
Janice Falkenberg and Doug Knop.
Rhonda Knop, Chairman of the Task Force on Home Financing,
reported that the Task Force will have a house tour on May 29, 1974
for 25 members of the financial community. Members of the Task Force
include Mary and Jack Ray, Dr. Bill Brown, Robin Parr, Jim Hill, Jim
Bull and Penelope Henry.
President Henry reported that he had appointed Mary Snyder as
Chairman of the Education Committee. He also reported that the persons
present at last month's board meeting had formed a legal committee,
whose purpose was to oppose the School Board's busing proposal before
the U.S. District Court.
