THE HILLTOPPER

Hundreds Attend
Meeting
On May 26, I along with hundreds of interested property owners of the neighborhood attended
the meeting held at Manual Training High School by the zoning
board. For the benefit of those who
could not attend and are interested; Mr. W. F. Henninger, Planning Director, went to great length
to quote from the Laws the legal
right given the planning board to
do the things they are doing. Anyone who is so uncertain of their
own acts, that they go to the length
he did to justify them, cannot be
sure, in their own minds that they
are morally right.
When they showed a map of
their plans I was happy to note
that we in the neighborhood had a
lot to be thankful for. The first
map which was reproduced in the
Hilltopper, allowed only two blocks
on 17th Avenue, two blocks on
13th Avenue and the corner of
18th Avenue and Humboldt, as
zoned for business. Now they have
included most of the now developed
business areas in the business zone.
I would like to believe that the
Hilltopper has had a small part
in the change. However the map is
changing daily and what will be
the final plan only time will tell,
but the Hilltopper will try to keep
you informed.
Howdy* TiRiqhbffi*
Some men buy anti-knock for their
automobiles when they should be taking the stuff themselves.
Meet your good neighbor, Mrs
Ruth Chambers, owner and manager of Ruth's Style Shop, located
at 1769 Humbolt. Mrs. Chambers
has lived in Denver since 1949.
She has been at the above location
since October of 1952. She lives in
the neighborhood, and has four
married children living in Denver.
Having managed dress shops on
East Colfax and South Broadway
she has had much experience in
the selection of quality merchandise that can be sold at reasonable
prices. She stocks a large variety
of ladies ready to wear and accessories in a wide range of colors
and sizes.
Having just received a large
shipment of summer and fall merchandise including costume jewelry, she is staying open during June
till 7:30 to give the Career Girl a
chance to shop. See her ad for her
special offer this month.
Ogden Tickets Popular
The great interest shown in the
neighborhood for the passes to the
Ogden Theater proves the large
number of neighbors who read the
Hilltopper and is indeed very flattering. In response to this demand
we are increasing the number of
tickets this week. Watch the ads
for the neighbors who have them.
