Your lovely letter of the 4th was received this morning on my return to Day*r rrora New York, where 1 have been for the past
18 or ao du/s0 J left Denver in a snowstorm and it snowed until J got to
New York, where 1 arrived four hours late. 1 only got bade this morning to
find that the weather here has bean the most severe of any winter of
recent years. You are fortunate to be in California with your wife and
child, and J would not take any chances of reaming here until about May«
Tom Ryan nade us a call at the house0 1 went to Leavenworth and tried to
settle this business with Jepp but was unable to do so*
Sverythin^ is all ri&ht here in Denver, and your business is looked
after as carefully as if you were here yourself. Of course, ) would like
you to meet Mrs Sheedy and J think yourself and Annas will be pleased with
her<, The children ar« going to school and doing well; their health is
better this winter than last, 1 bought them a new Phonograph while in
New York with 24 pieces so when you come up to the house you will be able
to hear songs sung by the noted singers and speeches made by some of the
greatest Statesmen repeated on the phonograph.
3 sincerely hope you will continue to enjoy your visit to the Pacific Coast &nd partake of the pleasures of hunting, 3 think you are wise if
you dont ring your daughter Florence back to Denver until we get rid of
this bad father* Do you know that while in New York 1 was detained three
days ther*as the New York Central would not sell a ticket to anyone
during tha time and about 20 inches of snow fell on two feet already on
the ground<?he snow was piled up higher than my head and only a passage
