After City Council passed a resolution
authorising a pilot project to revert
a one-day pair to residential streets,
CHUN met with the South Central
Improvement Association (SCIA), a
Washington Park group, to discuss the
subject.  As a result of this and talks
with members of Council and others, the
two groups have agreed to set up a subcommittee to produce a recommendation
as to which pair to eliminate, along
with information on the probably
effects.  These include less noise,
dirt and danger along the affected
streets, increased property values
along them, some increased traffic on
adjacent arterials and highways, and
less divided, more unified neighborhood.
CHUN seems united in its desire to
eliminate one-way pairs through
Capitol Hill, but there seems to be no
strong preference for or against any
particular pair.  Any suggestions,
recommendations, or objections to
these plans should be made known to
