CAPITOL HILL UNITED NEIGHBORHOODS
Minutes of Board Meeting - June 26, 1975
The meeting was opened by Rhonda Knop.
The minutes of the previous Board meeting were read and
approved as read.
John Hand reported on the financial and organizational aspects
of the 1975 People's Fair. (See attached report)
Committee progress reports were as follows:
LAND USE AND ZONING - Chuck stated that there was no chairman
as yet. The committee has identified two areas of primary
concern, l) To assist neighborhood groups in cases effecting
local precedence. 2) To conduct a re-evaluation of the
comprehensive plan.
With regard to the Mansion Properties question, the committee
agreed to favor a density criteria of one person per 300 square
feet of closed floor area. It was pointed out that CHUN's
efforts could ultimately result in demolition if they foster
criteria that is too restrictive. However, it was felt that
the 1/300 S.F. ceiling was a fair place to begin.
EDUCATION - No committee has yet been formed, Peter Weed
obtained some names from Kay Schomp and Ginny Rockwell for
Bernie1s use in getting this committee activated.
TRANSPORTATION - Russ Seacat reported that there has not been
a committee meeting to date. He stated that another public
hearing on RTD was scheduled for July 31. The most current
RTD planning has indicated that East Colfax will be adapted
for exclusive bus lanes in lieu of the previous ART proposal.
The State Legislature is studying the entire Front Range
transportation issue. There is reportedly some possibility
of a change in RTD's enabling legislation. The committee
will meet within the next week.
HOUSING AND HOME FINANCE - It was reported that the HUD
Conference on Urban Renewal revealed some methods of
implementing programs for private capitol involvement in
neighborhood renewal.
Community Development Act (CDA) monies have been made available
for certain areas of the City to include portions of Capitol
Hill. There were questions raised as to the methods applied
in the selection of eligable sectors.
