CHUN Board of Delegates Meeting
February 26, 1981
Capitol Hill Community Center
Minutes
The meeting was called to order by President Marcia Hughes at 7:30
pm. Board members present were Lynn Adams, Sally Barton, Jo Campbell, Chris ♦
Citron-Moore, Dene Clark, Liz Crawford, Lillian Davidson, Robert Duncan,
Patsy Frannea, Mike Henry, John Hitch, Marcia Hughes, Bernie Jones, Jock
McNulty, Jan Moore-Kirland, Jim Osborn, Dan Paulien, Beth Shugart-Duncan,
Elizabeth Singer, Joyce Thorn, Charles Sterratt, Clarence Miller, Nancy
Hauswald and Daisy Vandapool. Others attending were Barb Martens, Nancy
Rettig, Steve Valicevic, Meg Nagel, Mary Cook, Leroy Miller and Rick Foster.
The January 22. minutes were approved as mailed. The November minutes,
which were handed out at the last meeting, were approved.
Nominating Committee. Marcia Hughes recommended that the nominating
committee be composed of two Board members (Dan Paulien and Liz Crawford)
and three non-Board members (Dee Dukehart, Ron Yost and Mel Carter). It
was moved that the Board accept the recommendation. The motion was seconded
and passed. CHUN members were asked to give suggestions to the nominating
committee.
Annual Meeting. It has been decided to hold the annual meeting on April
23 at 7:30 pm in the Community Center. This will replace the April Board
meeting. (The May Board meeting will be held may 14 to avoid conflicting
with the People's Fair preparations.) Joyce Thorn, coordinator for the
annual meeting, asked for volunteers to assist her in planning. Clarence
Miller and Liz Crawford will assist. It is hoped that an annual report can
be published to hand out at the annual meeting. A sponsor would have
to be found to cover printing costs. Joyce is looking at a parks program
put together by Cathy Reynolds as a possible part of the meeting.
Membership. Jan Moore-Kirkland reported a successful phonathon. 121
members were reached out of over 200 phone calls made. Only two of these
were not planning to renew. Phase 2 of the membership drive is focused
around a "each one get one" program. A flyer is available for presentb
CHUN members to give or send to prospective new members. A prize will be
given to the top five recruiters. The top recruiter will be given a dinner
for two at a Capitol Hill restaurant. Members recruiting five or more new
members will get free admission to the fundraiser. Flyer6 are available
at the CHUN office or at the Neighborhood Assembly meetings.
Treasurer. Jock McNulty reported expenditures totaled $1,009.57 since
the last report. We have received $1,^87.00 in membership renewals. The
total cash on hand as of February 26, 1981 is $3,971.00.
CHARG. Barb Martens announced that Clerance Miller will be the new
CHARG representative to the CHUN Board. CHARG had a party during the past
month. They are working on putting together a revolving CHARG Board.
Another application for a VISTA will be submitted soon.
