CHUN Hoard of Delegates Feeting
Capitol Hill Community Center
July 26, 1979*
The meeting was called to order dv President Dan Paulien at 7:30 p.m.
Board members present were Linda Freed, Pauline Bryans, Dene Clark,
Patsy Frannea, Ken Freed, Kichael Henry, Jim & Sharon Hill, Sarah
Hite, Ted Hoyer, Karcia Hughes, Bill Johnson, Bernie Jones, Sally
Kurtzman, Larry Levi, Norma Oldham, Leon Sanders, Joyce Thorn, Charles
Trainor. Jock KcNulty and John Ozzello were also present.
The minutes of June 28 were approved as corrected. Deleted were the
sentences, "It was moved that CHUN endorse the North Capitol Hill/
City Park West Plan. The motion was seconded and passed."
Board Vacancies. There is a need for representation from Neighborhoods
1 and 9. It was decided to wait a month before filling vacancies.
Special CHUN Meeting. Rather than the previously suggested "In town
Retreat", current plans are for Thursday evening, September 27, starting with a pot' luck dinner. Ted Hoyer is planning the meeting around
organizational issues, i.e. goals and purposes of CHUN, organizational
structure, relationship to neighborhood organizations. Bernie Jones,
Karcia Hughes, Ken Freed, Dan Paulien, Kichael Kenry will meet with Ted
to discuss the foremat. All Board members plus other interested members
will be encouraged to attend and participate.
Life on Capitol Hill has become a weekly newspaper and is doing some
neighborhood distribution.
Treasurerfs Report. Treasurer Dene Clark circulated the July 24 Financial Statement. Receipts totaled $223.00; expenditures - $706.64;
leaving a balance 7-24-79 of 52,170.18.
People's Fair. The Financial Summary for the 1979 Fair showed a balance
in People's Fair checking account 1-1-79 of $306.00. Receipts (including
$2200 transferred from savings account) - $32,516.94. Expenditures -
$23,000.92. Checking account balance 7-22-79 was $9,922.02; savings
account balance - $2,556.30; making a balance 7-22-79 of $12,378.32.
The Financial Statement showed a balance in People's Pair Checking
Account 5-22-79 of $12,793.13. Receipts - $1,218.29; expenditures -
$4,189.40; leaving a checking account balance 7-22-79 of $9,822,02,
savings account balance - $2,556.30, total balance 7-22-79 of $12,378.32.
CHUN House Tour. Sharon Hill said the houses for the September 16 Tour
are 1050 Logan, 935 Pennsylvania, 945 Pennsylvania, 1050 Pennsylvania,
"1200 Pennsylvania, 1237 Pearl and 1240 Pearl. Programs will be used as
tickets, griokotc may be purchased in advance at tho -Trilogy or Blue
bird Bookstores* Press releases are being readied. The next House
Tour Committee meeting will be August 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Sandy Weston1s -
567 Ogden.
Reuse of Emerson School. Joyce Thorn reported that Senior Resources Inc.
^comprised of Seniors!, Kedical Care and Research Foundation, and Capitol
Hill Area Planning Council for Health Support Services for Seniors, Inc.)
has applied for its use. The building will be appraised and then this
group would like to purchase it. Joyce moved that the Board support
the request of the senior umbrella agency to purchase the building and
that the building be preserved. The motion was seconded and passed.
