CHUN Board of Delegates Meeting February 22, 1979 Cur Savior's Lutheran Church The meeting was called to order by President Dan Paulien at 7:50 p.m. Board members present were Gordon Appell, I.el Carter, Dene Clark, Ken Freed, Michael henry, Jim hill, John Hitch, Sarah hite, Bernie Jones, Steve Lang, Gerri Lane, Paul Mahoney, Rosie Mahoney, Leon Sanders, Joyce Thorn, Charles Trainor, Mark Thomas, Norma Oldham, Janet Moore-. Kirkland. Others in attendance were Ed Tilton, Larry Levi, Cindy Neumann, Fern Robertson, Jock McNulty, Maurjm* M/rizak, Dennis Pimple, Robert McPhee, Caroline Linville, Sue Kenney, Morrie Berkowitz, Jack McCroskey, Kathy Eatchett, Tom Gleason, Deb Bristow, Dan Davis, Nancy Greer. Esther McElfish. .The minutes of January 25 were approved as mailed. "«*>yer. Miriam^JTurri, Staff Associate of the Denver International Program, described her program sponsored by the Graduate School of Social Work at D.U. 9fr professionals from 11 nations are coming to Denver mid- April. She is looking for host families for five week periods. Michael Henry moved we elect Marine Marizak to the Board of Delegates. The motion was seconded and passed. People's Fair. Norma Oldham announced the next committee meetings at 7:30 at the Community Center: Feb. 28, March 15, and March 27, and encouraged our attendance. The proposed budget was circulated to be approved by the People's Fair Committee. Neighborhood Platform Convention will be held this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at the Auraria Community Center. Candidates for city office will then be asked to respond to this platform of neighborhood concerns. Transportation Committee. Michael Henry announced that Charles *. Trainor will be chairman of this committee. There is a continual need to maintain pressure for elimination of one way streets. Michael moved that the proposed zoning resolution by Washington Park East Neighborhood Association opposing the widening of Alameda be adopted with the amendment that there be better bus service along this route to Aurora Mall and encouragement of Park and Ride. The motion was seconded and passed. InterNeighborhood Cooperation will hold its next meeting March 17 at St. Dominie's Church in NW Denver. Housing.- Tom Gleason, from Sen. Gary Hart's office, stated that he is interested in input from CHUN on the conversion phenomena and its relation to governmental projects. The Princess Apartments were to be demolished to provide the prescribed off-street parking for the expanded Mountain States Employers Council, 1790 Logan. Dan Paulien, Cathy Donohue and others took this issue oifpreventing the demolition to the Board of Adjustment, asking for a variance. The variance was approved to eliminate the displacement of the apartment residents. Larry Levi circulated a draft of the housing Committee's General Statement regarding housing in Capitol hill and also specific committee
