The meeting was called to order by President Dan Paulien at 7:30 p.m.
Board members present were Gordon Appell, Lynne Arena, Mel Carter,
Dene Clark, Ray Fisher, Jim hill, John Hitch, Sarah Hite, Bernie
Jones, Rose Kapelezynski, Gerri Lane, John Ozello, Bill Pace, Eric
Peterson, Leon Sanders, JoAni^Sgker, Joyce Thorn, Charles Trainer,
Mark Thomas, Norma Oldham, Joyoc Moore-Kirkland.  Others in attendance
were Larry Levi, Kathy ^atchett, Ken Freed, Carolyn Peterson, Jock
McNulty, Sharon Judd^' ^Bernie Jones moved that the minutes of December
14 be approved as corrected.
City Council member Cathy Reynolds announced there had been an error
in the paper concerning the proper rates for senior citizen^': property
tax.  If a person is 65 or over (or disabled) and has been a resident
of Denver for the entire year and has an income not greater than
s^7300 (or a couple - #8300), he/she may be eligible for a property
tax rebate.  For more information, call 525-3061.
Board Vacancies.  Earry Phillips has resigned from the Board due to
lack of time.  It was decided not to elect any new board members
before the Annual Meeting and the Nominating Committee's report.
Vice President for Communication.  Joyce Thorn moved that Ken Freed
be elected to this position.  The motion was seconded and passed.
Ken is a CHUN member and has worked with the People's Fair.  It was
suggested that he work with Edward Page who also expressed interest
in this position.
People's Fair.  Norma Oldham, Chairman, reported that her committee
recommended Nancy Rettig be employed as People's Fair Coordinator at
$1200 a month from February 1 - May 31.  John Ozello moved that CHUN
accept this recommendation.  The motion was seconded and passed.
Norma said that the budget committee met and would like to propose
to the Fair Committee that CHUN run the beer concession (which netted
$3000 last year) and that CHUN get all profits, which suggestion met
with favor from CHUN.  The Board also liked the concept of limiting
the commercial aspects of the Fair, concentrating more on community
and social services and hand crafted items.  Norma presented the
People's Fair budget.  Anticipated income for the 1979 Fair is
$29,350; expenditures $19,048; leaving net profit of $10,302. This
budget will first be brought to the People's Fair Committee and then
to CHUN's February meeting for approval.
Capitol Hill Retreat.  It was decided that the retreat be held after
the new CHUN board is elected.
Interneighborhood Cooperation. Bernie Jones, President of INC, said
that at its last meeting it was recommended that neighborhoods be
involved in the municipal elections and tnat a platform be developed
for neighborhoods.  Candidates then would be asked to respond to it.
Bernie passed around;,a tablet for those present to write ideas to be
considered.  The platform will be developed at the INC meeting scheduled February 24.
JoAnn Soker moved that a proposed zoning resolution brought to INC
by Washington Park East Neighborhood Association concerning the widening of Alameda be referred to  the Land Use Committee.  It will be
brought back to the February CHUN board meeting for action.  The
